Flagship Service

ADHD, Autism & Neuropsychological Evaluations

A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation is an in-depth clinical investigation that goes far beyond a simple checklist or brief screening. These specialized evaluations identify neurodivergent profiles across the lifespan, focusing on late-diagnosed adult ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and high-masking professionals or students who require official clinical documentation to secure standardized testing accommodations (including extra time and separate rooms) for elite exams such as the MCAT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, SAT, and ACT. Using gold-standard diagnostic batteries, we evaluate:

Executive Functioning & Cognitive Profiling: Mapping the intellectual strengths, working memory, and processing speed required to support exam accommodation requests.
Attention & Impulse Control: Analyzing sustained attention, task initiation, and organization to definitively diagnose or rule out ADHD.
Social-Communication Patterns: Identifying the subtle nuances of interaction, non-verbal cues, and social processing characteristic of high-masking Autism Spectrum profiles.
Sensory Processing Profiles: Examining how your nervous system interprets, filters, and responds to environmental stimuli to optimize your testing and working environments.
Academic & Learning Support

Academic & Learning Support: Psychoeducational Assessments

Comprehensive psychoeducational assessments are designed to identify specific learning disorders (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) and hidden academic challenges. These evaluations investigate the underlying cognitive processes that directly impact a student's ability to learn, retain, and demonstrate knowledge. By analyzing phonological processing, fluid reasoning, and processing speed, we pinpoint the root cause of difficulties in reading, writing, or mathematics.

These reports are specifically designed to meet the rigorous requirements for:

Standardized Testing Accommodations: Official clinical documentation to secure extra time or accommodations on the MCAT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, SAT, and ACT.
School Support Plans: The evidence needed to establish formal IEPs or 504 plans in K-12 and university settings.
Diagnostic Clarity: Differentiating a primary learning disability from overlapping factors such as ADHD, panic, or school-related anxiety that may suppress academic performance.
Clinical Evaluation

Clinical Evaluation: Psychological & Diagnostic Testing

When complex mental health symptoms overlap, a targeted psychological evaluation is essential for clarifying the clinical picture. Our diagnostic testing helps differentiate between conditions that mimic one another, such as generalized anxiety, complex trauma (PTSD), mood disorders, and depression. By using evidence-based diagnostic instruments, we determine the most effective course of treatment and provide the clear clinical documentation needed to secure workplace accommodations, corporate adjustments, or to guide a highly informed, effective therapeutic process.

I believe that exceptional mental health care begins at the intersection of clinical expertise and deep human connection. My private practice is intentionally designed for high-achieving professionals, executives, and students who seek more than just a space to vent. I provide a highly professional, evidence-based approach that yields tangible, lasting psychological shifts. By combining thorough neuropsychological evaluations with proven therapeutic techniques, I offer the strategic clinical guidance necessary to break through self-limiting patterns and step into your most capable self.

Dr. Im provides premier in-person therapy and testing in Las Vegas, Nevada (NV), alongside secure online telehealth services across New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), and 40+ states nationwide.

My Philosophy: Unpacking the Scarcity Mindset & the Drive for Success

My clinical perspective is deeply informed by my lived experience as a first-generation immigrant raised in a high-stress, fast-paced culture characterized by constant demand. I intimately understand the unique weight of perfectionism, cultural conditioning, and the chronic scarcity mindset that so often accompanies the relentless drive for professional and academic success. I became a licensed psychologist to help individuals unstick themselves from these inherited narratives, find alignment with their true selves, and navigate a world that lacks a clear roadmap for personal fulfillment. My work is dedicated to helping you dismantle internal barriers, overcome burnout, reclaim your personal narrative, and achieve sustainable growth.

Neuropsychological Evaluations & Testing Accommodations

I specialize in conducting comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. These data-driven assessments go far beyond simple symptom checklists to investigate the intricate cognitive architecture of your mind, analyzing vital domains like executive functioning, memory, and information processing speed. I focus extensively on identifying neurodivergent profiles, including late-diagnosed adult ADHD and high-masking Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). By delivering rigorous, board-compliant clinical reports, I regularly help high-achieving students and professionals secure essential workplace adjustments and standardized testing accommodations (such as extra time) for elite exams including the MCAT, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, SAT, and ACT. Whether you need an in-person evaluation in Las Vegas, Nevada (NV), or online diagnostic testing across New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), and 40+ states nationwide, these evaluations provide a clear, empirical roadmap to align your daily functioning with your highest intellectual potential.

Ivy League Training & Clinical Foundations

My clinical foundation is established at the highest level of modern psychology. Holding a PhD from Columbia University and having trained and practiced within the nation's most prestigious medical institutions, including Columbia University Medical Center, I anchor your care in the rigorous standards of cutting-edge psychological science. This extensive background in high-stakes behavioral health clinics ensures you receive a level of diagnostic expertise and compassionate treatment that is recognized nationwide.

An Integrative Approach: 9+ Evidence-Based Modalities & Mind-Body Wellness

As an integrative mental health specialist, I draw from an expansive toolkit of over nine evidence-based modalities to tailor treatment to your specific evolution, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and perfectionism, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation, EMDR therapy for trauma, PTSD, and nervous system regulation, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and psychodynamic therapy. As a certified mindfulness and yoga teacher who maintains a dedicated personal practice, I bridge the gap between rigorous clinical interventions and holistic, mind-body wellness. Whether you are seeking a neurodivergent-affirming therapist or an expert ADHD and autism diagnostic evaluation, my mission is to deliver empowering, results-driven care that helps you thrive.

Therapeutic Approach

Integrative Methods for Lasting Results

True healing requires a dynamic, tailored approach rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Each clinical modality is purposefully selected to address your unique cognitive, emotional, and relational challenges. Dr. Jennifer Im, PhD provides these evidence-based therapies in person in Las Vegas, Nevada (NV), and via secure online telehealth across New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), and 40+ states nationwide.

CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety

Targets the root of chronic overthinking, imposter syndrome, and high-functioning stress. By restructuring distorted thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors, CBT creates rapid, measurable improvements in daily executive functioning and mental clarity.

DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Skill-based DBT treats emotional dysregulation, chronic overwhelm, and intense mood shifts, building real-world skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional modulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, balancing deep self-acceptance with behavioral change.

EMDR
EMDR Therapy for Trauma & PTSD

As an EMDR-certified EMDR therapist, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help clients heal from complex trauma (C-PTSD) and acute distress. Safely reprocessing distressing memories with bilateral stimulation breaks the grip of past trauma so old triggers no longer dictate the present.

ACT
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Highly effective for breaking cycles of chronic avoidance, anxiety, and psychological stagnation. ACT builds profound psychological flexibility, teaching you to accept uncomfortable internal experiences so you can make value-driven choices rather than being pulled off course by fear.

MBT
Mindfulness-Based & Somatic Therapy

As a certified mindfulness teacher and yoga instructor, I bridge clinical science and holistic, body-based wellness. Integrating contemplative practices and somatic therapy targets the physical seat of stress for whole-person healing and deep, sustainable nervous system regulation.

EFT
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Specialized for individuals navigating relationship distress, boundary issues, or painful breakups. EFT explores your attachment styles (anxious or avoidant) to uncover the emotional roots of relational cycles, helping you break codependency patterns and build secure, sustainable connection.

CPT
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

A highly structured, evidence-based cognitive therapy designed to treat PTSD. CPT helps you identify, evaluate, and reframe the unhelpful beliefs ("stuck points") created by traumatic experiences, guiding you toward new, empowering perspectives.

PDT
Psychodynamic Therapy for Depth-Oriented Insight

For deep, long-term growth, we explore how early life experiences, family dynamics, and unconscious patterns shape who you are today. Anchored in advanced training at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.

MI
Motivational Interviewing (MI)

A purposeful, collaborative conversational style that strengthens your own internal motivation and commitment to change, meeting you exactly where you are and helping you resolve ambivalence and take concrete steps forward.

Areas of Clinical Focus

What I specialize in

From diagnostic clarity to therapeutic growth, expert testing and evidence-based care for your professional and personal evolution.

Anxiety+
Anxiety operates independently of objective evidence. Despite a clear history of competence, the anxiety response keeps finding new areas of concern, scanning for what could go wrong or whether you are doing enough. This is not a character flaw; it is a learned pattern, and it can be unlearned. Using CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and DBT-informed approaches, we identify the cognitive and behavioral cycles sustaining your anxiety and build concrete tools for interrupting them. Many clients experience meaningful relief within the first several months of focused weekly work.
Depression+
Depression is more than sadness. It can show up as persistent low energy, loss of interest, difficulty concentrating, hopelessness, or a flat numbness that makes everything feel heavier. Evidence-based treatment, drawing on CBT, behavioral activation, ACT, and psychodynamic work, targets the patterns that maintain depression, rebuilds momentum and meaning, and addresses the underlying beliefs driving self-criticism and withdrawal. Treatment is collaborative, structured, and oriented toward measurable change.
Trauma & PTSD+
Trauma does not live only in memories. It lives in how your body responds when something feels familiar, in patterns you cannot stop repeating, and in hypervigilance that follows you even when you are safe. Whether from a single event, complex developmental trauma, or intergenerational adversity, healing is possible. As an EMDR-certified clinician, I use EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and somatic approaches to process what happened and release what the body has been holding, at a pace that is right for you.
ADHD+
Adult ADHD often hides in plain sight. You may have spent years labeled as careless, scattered, or lazy, while privately working twice as hard to keep up. An ADHD evaluation identifies whether attention, focus, impulsivity, and executive functioning difficulties reflect ADHD, and it does so with the rigor of a full clinical assessment rather than a quick screening questionnaire.

Testing uses a gold-standard battery measuring attention, working memory, processing speed, executive functioning, and emotional regulation, alongside a thorough clinical interview and developmental and academic history. For adults, evaluation also accounts for the high-masking presentations that simple checklists routinely miss, including capable professionals who reached external success while struggling internally.

Several pathways are available depending on what you need the results for: a focused ADHD diagnosis for clarity, a results session for personal understanding, or a comprehensive evaluation with Full-Scale IQ testing required for the SAT, GRE, MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, ACT, or workplace accommodations. Reports are detailed and individualized, built to support diagnostic clarity, medication management, therapy planning, and academic or workplace accommodations.

If ADHD and autism may co-occur, a combined ADHD and autism evaluation (sometimes called an AuDHD assessment) uses a broader battery so neither profile is missed.
Autism (ASD)+
Many autistic people, especially adults and those who mask, reach midlife sensing they experience the world differently without ever having language for why. An adult autism evaluation examines social-communication patterns, sensory processing profiles, intense focal interests, and your lifelong developmental history to determine whether an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) profile fits, giving you a clear, liberating, and affirming explanation of how your mind works.

Our assessments use a gold-standard, evidence-based psychometric battery alongside a detailed clinical and developmental interview, engineered to recognize high-masking autism presentations that standard screening questionnaires routinely overlook. We focus extensively on highly capable adults who learned to camouflage social differences and force eye contact to survive, arriving at midlife exhausted by a lifetime of masking and compensation.

High-masking autistic adults are frequently misdiagnosed, with treatment-resistant anxiety and depression, with Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder, or with OCD, because overlapping traits are misread on the surface. An official neuropsychological evaluation untangles these overlapping conditions and offers immediate diagnostic clarity. When attention deficits and neurodivergence intersect, a combined autism and ADHD (AuDHD) evaluation uses a broader battery so both profiles are accurately identified rather than one masking the other.
Relationship Distress+
The most frustrating relational patterns are the ones we repeat regardless of who we are with. If you cannot ask for what you need without minimizing it, absorb others' emotions while neglecting your own, or feel chronically unseen, this work is for you. Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT-based assertiveness training, and DBT interpersonal effectiveness, we explore your attachment style, build the capacity to set limits without guilt, and help you relate from security rather than fear, habit, or people-pleasing.
Burnout & High-Stress Career+
Burnout in driven, accomplished people rarely announces itself dramatically. It creeps in as emotional distance, physical depletion that sleep cannot resolve, and a cynicism you cannot shake. If you are still delivering but running on empty, this deserves serious clinical attention, not another productivity hack. Using ACT, mindfulness, CBT, and psychodynamic exploration, we address the perfectionism and conditional self-worth underneath the exhaustion and rebuild a sustainable relationship with work, rest, and your sense of worth.
Life Transitions+
Major life transitions, even welcome milestones like a promotion, relocation, or long-sought achievement, can destabilize your sense of self and belonging. These moments often involve the very goals you worked for, yet still create a disconnect from your previous identity. Therapy provides a grounded, evidence-based framework for processing the grief of what is left behind while dismantling outdated expectations and aligning your next chapter with your actual values.
Cross-Cultural Identity+
Living between cultures carries a specific psychological weight, the grief of acculturation, the exhaustion of code-switching, and the isolation of being the first in your family to navigate certain spaces. As a first-generation immigrant psychologist, I approach this territory from the inside, specializing in the experience of immigrants and children of immigrants, bicultural individuals, and those navigating the intersecting demands of race, class, gender, generation, and professional identity. Cultural attunement here means honoring every dimension of who you are.

About Therapy
My approach is structured, goal-oriented, and actively collaborative, designed to create momentum rather than simply provide a space to process. Each session has a clear agenda, with specific focal points identified at the start to ensure we are using our time purposefully. I incorporate in-session tasks and skill-building exercises that are immediately applicable to your daily life, because real change happens between sessions, not just within them.

My style is assessment-informed: I begin with a thorough understanding of your psychological profile, and treatment is calibrated accordingly. Progress is tracked and revisited regularly so you always know where we are and where we are headed. This is not passive listening, it is active, evidence-based clinical work with a clear direction.
Research consistently shows that weekly therapy produces the fastest and most durable results. A landmark meta-analysis found that approximately 50% of clients show significant improvement within 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Most clients begin weekly and shift to biweekly or monthly once their core goals have been achieved.
The first session is a warm, comprehensive intake, a space to explore what brings you in, your history, your goals, and any questions about the process. There are no wrong answers. This time is used to genuinely understand your experience before building a treatment plan together.
Duration depends on your goals and presentation. Some clients achieve meaningful progress in 12 to 20 focused sessions; others benefit from longer-term work. Regular check-ins ensure you always know where the work is heading and why.
No specific preparation is needed. Come as you are, with whatever is on your mind. If it is helpful, consider briefly what has brought you to therapy at this point in your life, and what you are hoping to feel or be different on the other side. The first session is designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Yes, and the research is clear on this. Multiple systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials have demonstrated that teletherapy produces outcomes equivalent to in-person treatment across a broad range of conditions. A 2020 meta-analysis published in World Psychiatry found no significant difference in treatment efficacy between in-person and video-based psychotherapy.

By meeting in a familiar, private environment, many clients find they can engage more deeply and authentically, experiencing less anticipatory stress and higher levels of comfort. This format also eliminates the time and expense of commuting, ensuring that specialized care remains consistent, accessible, and easily integrated into a busy lifestyle.
About Assessment & Testing
Yes. Virtual administration of assessments is comparably effective and valid to in-person testing. Recent large-scale studies have confirmed that remote assessment yields equivalent results to traditional in-person evaluations when conducted by a trained clinician using standardized digital portals. The entire process is conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform, and the resulting reports are comprehensive and board-compliant for workplace accommodations, school IEP and 504 plans, and standardized testing accommodations.
The primary difference lies in the inclusion of cognitive and intellectual functioning assessments. A Comprehensive Neurodiagnostic Evaluation is an all-inclusive investigation that integrates Full-Scale IQ and intellectual functioning testing to analyze the underlying architecture of your mind, measuring processing speed, working memory, and intellectual strengths. This provides the high-level data required for formal academic accommodations such as the SAT, GRE, MCAT, ACT, or LSAT.

A focused ADHD or ASD evaluation is a targeted diagnostic designed specifically to identify the presence of neurodivergence for personal clarity, therapy treatment planning, or medication management. It does not include full cognitive or IQ testing and is not sufficient for high-stakes accommodation documentation.
A Psychoeducational Evaluation focuses specifically on the intersection of cognitive processing and academic achievement. This assessment is designed to identify specific learning disorders, such as Dyslexia or Dyscalculia, by determining exactly how a student's brain handles information in an educational setting.

You would seek this evaluation if you or your child requires clinical proof for an IEP or 504 plan, or if you need to pinpoint why a student is struggling in subjects like reading or mathematics despite high effort. It moves beyond simple labels to provide a data-driven roadmap, differentiating between a primary learning disability and other factors like ADHD or anxiety that may be impacting classroom performance.
Many individuals experience overlapping symptoms of both ADHD and Autism, often referred to as AuDHD. This combined evaluation uses a broader psychometric battery to accurately differentiate between these profiles, providing a more precise understanding of your neurodivergent experience. Given the symptom overlap, a dual evaluation ensures neither presentation is missed or misattributed to the other.
Yes. If you later realize you need formal documentation, for a medical provider, school, or accommodation request, a written report can be generated based on your existing assessment data for a supplementary fee of $300. You do not need to repeat the full evaluation.
Yes, a core part of this practice. Comprehensive evaluations are available for children, adolescents, and adults. Multiple evaluation options are offered depending on your needs, from targeted ADHD/ASD diagnostics to full comprehensive neurodiagnostic evaluations with IQ testing. Yes. Many clients pursue an evaluation for diagnostic clarity and then begin therapy to act on the findings. Others begin therapy and pursue an evaluation later as specific questions emerge. Both can be coordinated to complement and strengthen each other.
